User Guide

Every tool here follows the same three-step Clinical Framing Protocol (Pattern / Rule / Solve). Wrap a weekly activity log in ### delimiters so the audit knows exactly where your data starts and stops.

  1. Pattern

Read what the week actually looked like: minutes, intensity, strength and balance days.

  2. Rule

Compare it to the PAGA 2018 dosage for the person's age group.

  3. Solve

Close the gap safely: start low, go slow, and remember bouts of any length count.

Key dosage rules

Preschool (3–5 years)

  • Active throughout the day to enhance growth and development
  • Caregivers encourage a variety of active play

Children & teens (6–17 years)

  • 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous activity daily
  • Vigorous aerobic activity on 3+ days/week
  • Muscle- and bone-strengthening on 3+ days/week each

Adults (18–64 years)

  • 150–300 min/week moderate, or 75–150 min/week vigorous aerobic activity
  • Spread activity across the week
  • Muscle-strengthening of all major groups on 2+ days/week

Older adults (65+ years)

  • Adult guidelines as abilities and conditions allow
  • Multicomponent activity that includes balance training
  • Set effort relative to personal fitness level

Why it matters: inadequate activity is linked to about $117 billion in annual health care costs and roughly 10% of premature deaths. Benefits such as better sleep, less anxiety, and lower blood pressure begin immediately after a single bout.
